The Harrisburg Alumni Chapter Scholarship Fund was created in 1995
to provide annual scholarship awards to outstanding and deserving Harrisburg area
students enrolled at IUP. The following criteria have been established for awarding
the annual scholarship:
· Must be a permanent resident of the local coverage area, which includes Adams,
Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York Counties;
· Must have earned between 26 and 90 credits and be a sophomore or junior according
to the University’s classification standards;
· Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better;
· Demonstrate a financial need in pursuing educational goals.

Since its inception, the endowments to this Scholarship Fund have provided for
awards totaling $13,805 to qualifying students. The 2009 scholarship
in the amount of $2,195 was awarded to Kaitlin Halsell, a junior majoring in English
and pre-law. Kaitlin is a student coordinator for the 6 o’clock series. Kaitlin
is also a member of IUP’s pre-law society, is a member of the women’s soccer team.
Kaitlin hopes to pursue a law career and become a district attorney. Kaitlin
currently has a 4.0 GPA. Kaitlin resides in Lebanon, PA.
